1. Korte beschrijving van de band
1966 (in Chicago, US)
Walt Parazaider, Terry Kath, Lee Loughnane en Danny Seraphine vormen de groep "Missing Links".
Robert Lamb en James Pankow maken deel uit van "The Big Thing".
De vermelde leden van "Missing Link" gaan over naar "The Big Thing"
Peter Cetera, toen, als bassist, lid van "The Exceptions", woonde een optreden bij van "The Big Thing", speelde met hen mee en twee weken verliet hij, op verzoek van Robert Lamn, "The Exceptions" om deel te gaan uitmaken van "The Big Thing".
Chicago, 1968
James Guerico wordt hun nieuwe producer en verandert de naam in "Chicago Transit Authority". Onder deze naam wordt één plaat uitgebracht.

James William Guerico - Chicago Transit Authority:
"The printed word can never aspire to document a truly musical experience, so if you must call them something, speak of the city where all save one was born, where all of them were schooled and bred, and where all of this incredible music went down barely noticed, call them CHICAGO."

Daarna worden ze gedwongen hun naam te veranderen, omdat een vervoermaatschappij in Chicago, CTA, bezwaar maakt tegen het gebruik van hun naam.
De naam wordt Chicago.

Terry Kath	:	Guitars, lead & background vocals
Robert Lamm	:	Pianos, keyboards, percussion, lead & background vocals
Lee Loughnane	:	Trumpet, fugelhorn, cornet, guitar, percussion, background vocals
James Pankow	:	Trombone, percussion, background vocals
Walt Parazaider	:	Saxophones, flute, clairinet
Danny Seraphine	:	Drums, percussion

28 januari l978, New York:
Chicago-gitarist and -zanger Terry Kath overlijdt aan de gevolgen van een ongelukkig afgegaan revolverschot.
Jim Guerico:
"Terry Kath was a great talent. Hendrix idolized him. He was just totally committed to this band, and he could have been a monster (as a solo artist)."
Eind 1978:
Manager James William Gueric is dan vervangen door Phil Ramone en Donnie Dacus treedt toe als gitarist. Chicago XII komt uit.
Herfst 1981:
Chigaco vraagt Bill Champlin toe te treden tot de band.
Champlin: "They needed a little bit of guitar work and they needed somebody to sing Terry's stuff."
Zomer 1985:
Peter Cetera verlaat Chicago. Jason Sheff komt in zijn plaats.
